Thanksgiving Card

Morning, everyone!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I know I did!  Hubby and I got to spend the entire weekend together.  I love these together weekends - they mean so much to us!

Sunday was nothing by rainy here in the southern Tennessee ... which means a "Playroom Day"!  Yeah!  Hubby on his side of the table cleaning his muzzle-loader and I on my side making Thanksgiving cards.  Odd, huh?  I CASEd this card from Brandy at BrandysCards.com

I decided not to stamp a sentiment on the inside of the card.  Instead, I wrote a personal note to each family to whom the cards were sent.

Here is a list of items used for this card.

Family Love stamp (D1506), Always Grateful stamp (C1559), Huntington WOTG stamp set (retired)

Ink Colors:
Cocoa, Ruby, Honey, New England Ivy

Cocoa, Colonial White

Sparkles Brown & Tan Assortment (Z1753), Burlap Ribbon (Retired),

January Calendar: Showhaven and Artbooking Cricut Cartridge

As I have posted before, I love, love, love calendars!  What better way to remember the little details of the past than by flipping through an old calendar/date book.  The big events in life are easy to remember ... weddings ... births ... holidays ... putting a tiny ding in Hubby's truck.  But what about the day-to-day life we live?

Do you remember  ...  the day you met your future in-laws for the first time?  May 29, 2004 ...  the day you applied for the job you love ... March 15, 2009 ... the day Hubby signed up for his first RZR race ... October 3, 2014 ... the day your puppies were born ... well, I confess I don't have that date, but my mother-in-law does on her calendar!

See?  There is so much life between the "scrapbook worthy" events in our lives that lead to great stories that may not make it in to your scrapbook.  That's where a monthly calendar layout comes in!

Here's my plan ... each month I'll just place the calendar in my Designed Decor Black Shadow Box, jot down a few non-scrapbooky (new word!) events and select a photo from that month.  Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!

Right page layout: Scrapbook Generation January 2014 Create online magazine.  Turned their 1-page layout upside down.

Left page layout:  Artbooking Cricut Cartridge, cut at the recommended 11".

Quick & Easy Engagement Pop Up Card

Last month I got a phone call from Cousin C while I was at work.  I thought it was a little odd, but I love hearing from my family anytime.  I asked what was up and she said, "oh, nothing, just sitting here with my fiance."  My response ... "WHAT?!  I mean, CONGRATS!"

And so, the wedding planning is off and running!  Of course, this called for a card.  Flipping through my trusty Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge, I found the perfect pop up card.  One key, three cuts, 2 pieces of cardstock, and a few embellishments later, I have this cute engagement card.

All three pieces were cut a 7" as noted in the handbook.  NOTE:  I used my Cricut E2.

CTMH items used:
Paper Fundamentals Whimsy Assortment (Glacier) (Z2033)
White Daisy Cardstock (1385)
Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge (Z3017)
Pearl Flourishes and Sparkles
Seam Ribbon (retired CTMH item)

Scrapbook Room Remodel, Part 1

Happy Monday, everyone!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  The weather is getting cooler, the leaves are changing and I am pulling out my tights and Mary Janes.  I love autumn!

Lately, hubby and I have been preparing for my winter hibernation by remodeling my scrapbook room, which I lovingly refer to as my "Playroom".  YEAH!!  When I married a builder/carpenter, I thought I would make a "suggestion" for something to be built and "POOF" it would be done.  No such luck with this (or any other) project.  All I kept hearing was "we are in this together".

While it was supposed to be a 50/50 split in work, it was more like 70/30 ... me being the 30 ... but I was helping a LOT!  Rest assured my other 20 percent will come when I have to put everything in it's place.  ARGH!!

Anyway, here is the before of my playroom ...

Functional, but not what I really wanted.  Soooo ... let the REMODEL begin!

First thing to go was my big oak desk.  It's so big hubby had to remove the door so we could get in a spare bedroom which is now our home office.

Down came the shelves and out went the cabinets ... which means,

I had stuff scattered everywhere!  In the living room, dining room, playroom ... hubby's playroom ... oops!

Hubby began painting my room in a beautiful, soothing green called Velvet Verde Antique by Color Place at Walmart.  Love this color so much, I have it in our bedroom!

Putting up the shelves!

Hubby building my dream table!

We set the table about 35" high so I can stand and play as well as sit down and play.  Still have to get new chairs.

It's coming together!  We did all of this and a little more (no pics yet) in one weekend.  I'll be back in a couple of days with the final tour!
